Motorola Moto G73 5G
Summary
In the price range, Moto G73 has the best performance and software. The camera is not that great. But it’s good. Battery life is amazing. Overall if you want a smartphone with smooth performance and software, this one is a good fit. The software provides a stock Android experience.
Overall opinion
My overall opinion about the phone is that it is good. For the budget, it has the best performance. I had a great software experience while using this smartphone. It has some cons. I think the cons are in the camera part. It does not have a good camera. The camera quality is average. Photos taken with the phone look somewhat unnatural due to too much processing. It is not too bad. I wouldn’t expect a great camera on a budget phone. But you can certainly get a phone that has a camera better than this. Moto g73 has an LCD display. Not AMOLED. It is not a big problem. Battery life was amazing. It can stand more than 1 day for daily use. The most interesting thing about the phone was its software and performance. With the latest MediaTek processor Dimensity 930, it is able to perform great in all tasks. You will get a smooth and uninterrupted gaming experience. Software is the highlight of the phone. It provides a smooth stock Android experience. Also, it has some built-in apps that come in handy.
Overall it is a good value-for-money budget smartphone. It has some amazing specs for the price. If you want the best software experience and performance, this one’s a really good fit for you.

Moto g73 review Video
Design and Build
The in-hand feel of the phone is really great. The back and side frame of the phone is made of acrylic glass also known as PMMA which is a plastic-based material. It is not that fingerprint-resistant. It does catch many fingerprints. It has a clean matte finish and feels very light to hold. Weights around 181 grams.
It has a 3. 5mm Headphone jack and a USB C-type port. The phone is available in two colors, Midnight Blue and Lucent White.
Display
Motorola g73 comes with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ (full hd plus) resolution. Video watching experience on this phone is really amazing.
The previous version of this phone had an AMOLED display. This one only has an IPS LCD display. But it has some great improvements in the processor and other specs which will be discussed later in this article.
The phone has a variable refresh rate. You can select the refresh rate that you want to use. Either 60 Hz or 120 Hz. if you put it on auto, the refresh rate will vary between 30 Hz to 120 Hz depending on the usage. By enabling the “show refresh rate” option in developer mode, you can see the current refresh rate of your phone.
When you use the phone or do some activity or if anything is moving on the screen, the refresh rate goes up to 120 Hz. If the screen is static, the refresh rate goes down to 30 Hz. So while you are reading or something, you don’t need a 120Hz refresh rate as there is no motion on your screen. It will only drain the battery. This variable refresh rate saves battery life by reducing or increasing the refresh rate according to the activity.
Another thing about the display is that it supports HDR. This gives you an immersive experience and color
Camera
The phone comes with two rear camera setup and one front camera. It does not have a low-quality third macro camera like in other smartphones. The two cameras in the back are a 50 MP main camera and an 18 MP ultra-wide camera. The ultra-wide camera can switch between macro and Ultra wide which means you can take both ultra-wide photos and macro shots through the same camera.
The camera quality is average. I wouldn’t expect a great camera in a budget phone. In this price range with all the other specs, it is the best. Here are some photos I took with Moto G73.
The camera performs well in outdoor conditions when there is more light. In bright sunlight, the photos look nice. The color and depth of the photos also look nice. The photos look sharp.
It also looks a bit unnatural. I think the camera does a lot of processing on the images making it look unnatural.
In low light conditions, the photos have noise and grains. The photos do not look as sharp in low light conditions as indoors. Here is a photo I took indoors.
For close-up shots, the camera performs well. You can see below a close-up shot I took with the phone.
If you zoom in and take photos, the quality reduces drastically. You can zoom up to 8x. While zooming the image quality gets reduced and more visible noise appears in the images.
Image stabilization is also not that great. If your hands shake a bit while taking a photo, some parts of the photo will appear blurred.
You can also capture photos in HDR.
Front Camera
Moving on to the front camera, it is a 16 MP camera with 1.0/2.0-micrometer pixel size. The front camera quality is also average but great in this price range.
In low light conditions like indoors, its performance is not good. There is a lot of noise in the pictures. Again.. outdoors in bright light, the camera is not that bad. You can capture good selfies outdoors. Face color and sharpness look good.
Video quality is also average. You can record videos with the back camera in 1080p at 30 FPS or 60 FPS. With the front camera, you can record videos in 1080p 30 FPS only.
Video stabilization is also average. In the price range, it is good.
The camera app has many great features. There is a dual mode that allows you to capture in both the front camera and back camera simultaneously. There is also a High resolution which increases the resolution image quality significantly. There are many other features in the camera app. You can tweak these settings to capture a better photo. Portrait mode is also great.
Overall, the camera is a good option for the price range it’s in. However, it may not be the best choice for those looking for top-of-the-line camera performance, especially in low-light conditions. You can certainly get a phone with a better camera than this. But camera specs are not where this phone shines. It stands out in the performance and software parts. At this price with all the other specs it’s offering, the moto g73 is great.
I don’t think there is any budget phone, especially under ₹20,000 with the perfect camera. You will have to look for flagship phones for the best camera.
Performance
Moto G73 really shines in the performance part. The performance of this phone was stunning in this price range. It has Meidatek’s latest Dimensity 930 chipset. This processor is slightly better in benchmark scores than Snapdragon 695 chipset used in other smartphones in the price range. The octa-core processor has a clock speed of 2.2 GHz.
The Antuntuntu benchmark score of Moto g73 is 418,744.3
I tried playing some games on this device. It was an amazing experience and the performance was really good. There was not much heating issue.
I played Call of Duty for 1 hour and it was a great gaming experience. When I played in high settings, it got a little warm. The frame rates and graphics were amazing. In this price range, Moto G73 provides the best performance.
For daily tasks like browsing the internet, using social media apps, watching youtube, etc… the phone performs really great. You won’t face any lag or delay while opening apps or doing some tasks on your device.
Also if you want to do some heavy tasks on your phone, you will be able to do it. The phone will perform decently.
I don’t have any problems to say about the phone in the performance part considering the price range and comparing it to other smartphones.
Software
The software is the thing I liked most about the phone. The stock Android experience that this phone provides is priceless. I really really like it very much. For me what I want most in a smartphone is a smooth and clean software experience. The Moto G73 excels in providing that. Other smartphones in this price range have dumped in some of their own spammy software. This one has pure stock Android. There might not be many features and all. But the user experience it provides is amazing. Every time you open your phone and use it, you will feel that greatness.
The software has no ads or bloatware pre-installed. That’s not something that you would get at this price. There is a feature in the software that automatically creates folders in your phone grouping similar apps. for example, games in one folder, Social media apps in another one likewise. In this automatically created folder, it does recommend some apps. But I don’t take it as ads. You have a choice to remove this while setting up the phone. They will if you want app recommendations. I take it more as a feature than an advertisement.
It comes out of the box with Android 13. With its powerful processor and amazing software, everything works smoothly and fast. The flow while using the phone is really amazing.
Motorola also provides some built-in apps that are really useful. In the Moto app, there is a lot of variety of customization options that you can do on the phone. You can change the font of the letter on the phone, you can change the app icon’s shape, change display settings, and much much more. Other phones also have these features but Motorola packs all these in one place, their Moto app.
So you can change these settings very easily and access them faster. There are also many gestures you can set and other settings in the Moto app.
There is a secure folder feature that has many security features. For example, If you turn on the pin pad scramble feature, then in your lock screen numbers will be rearranged in other order so no one can guess the pin number by looking at where you tap on the screen. You can also put a pin lock in your folders.
Software is the highlight in this review of Moto G73. It’s also worth noting that Motorola offers three years of security updates, which is impressive for a budget phone. They have also confirmed that the Moto G73 will receive the Android 14 update in the future

Battery
Moto G73 comes with a massive battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. The phone has great battery life. I got a screen on time of 6-7 hours. It will easily last throughout the day. For daily tasks, you don’t need to worry at all. The battery can last for more than 1 day for normal use.
For browsing the internet or using social media apps, making some calls, or doing some daily tasks, you won’t even notice battery discharge.
If you are gaming or doing some processor-intensive task, it can last for about 4- 5 hours.
When I played Call of Duty for around 1 hour, the battery only went down by 6 or 7 percent. That a great for a budget phone.
To support its massive 5000mAh battery, it has a 30W TurboPower fast charger that can charge the phone from 1% to 100% in around 1 hour 24 mins. Yeah, it will take 1 hour to charge your phone. But I don’t consider it a problem. You won’t need to charge this phone frequently as it has a great battery life. You won’t have any low battery issues for your daily use. The charger cable is type c to type c.
Overall the battery performance of this phone was amazing.
The phone comes with 8 GB Ram and 128 GB internal memory. This much storage will be enough for all your needs. You can take as many photos and videos as you need and you won’t run out of storage.
Network and connectivity
It has wifi 5 and supports 5G. The 13 bands of a 5G connection will allow you to browse through the internet faster. Bluetooth version is 5.3. 13 bands 5G.
The phone features WiFi 5 and supports 5G connectivity with 13 different frequency bands, allowing for faster internet browsing speeds
Other features
There are many other features in this phone which are really great. The gestures in this phone are really helpful. There is a default gesture called fast torch. This will turn on the flashlight if you shake your phone 2 times. This can be really helpful if the power went off in your home you need to turn your mobile flashlight on.
One thing I forgot to tell is the fingerprint lock. The fingerprint scanner is on the side of the phone. It is very fast and pretty much accurate.
There are a lot more small features. I cant cover them all in this review of Moto 73. I have covered all the main highlights.
Conclusion- Great for the budget
Overall in this price range, this is the best phone you can get. After using it for one 1 month I can say that It is one of the best budget phones under 20k. It has all the specs and features that most people would need. If you are looking for a good budget phone under 20 thousand rupees, then this might be a good fit for you.
